Paddling for All - Always Paddling

Welcome to Burton Canoe Club

For Members there is plenty of regular activity at weekends throughout February and March as we gear up for the 2016 summer season.

There are current courses in Beginner, Improver and Intermediate level kayak courses with more kayak and canoe courses after Easter. These are primarily for members, indeed some are exclusively for members! That should not be an issue as the Membership fees and Course fees are often less than just a course elsewhere!

The pool sessions are currently proving to be very popular as more members take advantage of the warm clean conditions compared to the river in mid-winter!

See your Club Newsletter and the Club Room Notice Board.

Our Community Coaching Programme will unfortunately be condensed as the loan of the Bell Boats came to an end in mid 2015. The Club is working hard to raise funds to purchase its own Bell Boats but this takes time.

Already there are multi-day trips to the Lake District and Wales planned; local overnight trips in the Trent Valley, a "Paddle, Explore, Enjoy" Youth day for all the club's, and West Midlands Clubs, in May.

Our Annual Canoe Marathon Races in June; Go Canoeing Days for non-members to try our great sport; and specific sessions for those with a disability - the club has some great equipment to enable this.

In addition there are 'After School Club' sessions open to all local school pupils. Tuesday - Derbyshire side of the river; Thursday - Staffordshire side of the river! This is just a guide, pupils are welcome to attend whichever suits them better!

And, there is our all-year-round 'Saturday Afternoon Club' for all young people - come for a 'look see' and a chat! You will be very pleasantly surprised at our great facilities and equipment!

See 'About Us' and 'Contact Us' if you wish to make enquiries of any kind.

PADDLESPORT START COURSES

These courses target newcomers to the Club to give them the essential basics of canoeing and/or kayaking on the river.

Each session is £5 and depending on progress could lead to the British Canoeing Paddlesport Start Award Certificate.

Non-members can 'trial' the Club for a maximum of 3 sessions, including Paddlesport Start.
