In the summer, when the rivers are a bit too empty, we often take to the sea in a variety of boats.
Most of the paddlers in the club have sea kayaks (or have access to sea kayaks) which are much more suited to paddling
long distances in open water. However, given that most of our trips are just day trips around the coast or on Strangford
Lough, the shorter whitewater boats can sometimes be just as good.
We like to explore the coastline, looking in sea caves, watching the wildlife and then finding a secluded spot for lunch.
The coastline of Northern Ireland is absolutely fantastic and well worth exploring by boat.
