Piggin' Paddlers' Pics

Here are just a few pictures of what we get up to, from canoeing on calmer lakes and streams, to instruction on moving water, and running committing, wilder rivers in enclosed kayaks. Each style of paddling has its own rewards, but we always come away from each day's paddling with a sense of achievement. Paddling gives us a chance to get away from the stresses of work and our daily lives, and allows us to simply be out in the heart of nature with good friends, whatever the grade of the water.

Piggin' Paddlers' Recent Trips

Scotland

In October 2010 eight Piggin' Paddlers went to Newtonmore, Scotland. Here are a few photographs that give you an idea of what we experienced in the Highlands. Unfortunately there was very little rain, although it was cold enough for a little snow on the mountain-tops! We still managed to paddle several classic rivers, including a few Georges (sorry is that gorges?) such as the Spean & Findhorn. Paddling Scottish rivers was a welcome challenge and a completely different style to what we paddle typically in Northern Ireland.

The French Alps (les hautes Alps)

A few Piggins' made the journey to Southern France with a group from the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre in June 2010, and partook of the stunning scenery, high volume rivers and warm weather. A return to France is on the books for 2012, alhough Slovenia could also be a candidate, judging by the quality of the course seen on the world slalom championships held there in 2010!
